A fascinating study in 1984 mapped the variation in human brain size around the world in order to find out whether people in colder climates have evolved large, round heads in order to conserve heat.
NOTE: There is no link between brain size and intelligence (and no, we're not sure why half of Australia is uninhabited on this map).
