Submitting of your website's sitemap will help Google and other search engines to crawl through your website and to index them.So in other words submitting your sitemap is the best way to get your website in Search engines like Google,bing,yahoo etc.
What is Sitemap?
Sitemaps are usually xml files which tell search engines that how many pages are accessible by all users.It actually tell the search engine that how many pages and posts you have on your website and how frequently you update these pages.
Remember it don't increase your search engine ranking it just tell about your website.
Why is it necessary to upload a sitemap ?
As i mentioned earlier that sitemap don't increase your search engine ranking but it just tell your search engine that how frequently your website is being updated.As for new blogs and websites there are very few backlinks for them.So search engines usually don't index all of their webpages.So in order to submit all of your pages and posts to search engines sitemap plays an important role.Hence we can say that from SEO point of view sitemaps play an important role.
How to upload a sitemap of a WordPress website ?
If you have your website in WordPress platform and you want to index it to a search engine like Google then you should also add a sitemap to the search engine so that your website might be completely indexed by the search engine.
So in order to create a sitemap you should download a plugin called "yoast WordPress SEO plugin".
After installing the plugin you click on SEO and click on "XML sitemaps".Now click on "XML sitemap"button.You will be taken to your XML sitemap.It will be something like this :
www.yourwebsite.com/sitemap_index.xml
Copy like after your website.As in my case it is "sitemap_index.xml " copy it and go to your Google Webmaster Tools. Now click on sitemaps and click on submit a sitemap.
Now paste it here and click on Submit Sitemap.
That's it you have successfully done it.
